School Applications

School Applications

School applications are by invitation only (i.e., schools or educational programs cannot apply without being invited by us, the Access to Achievement Foundation, to do so. We provide the application to those who qualify).

Criteria

We invite schools or educational programs that serve low-income students to become partners. Priority is given to Title 1 schools that receive federal funding from the Department of Education (i.e., at least 40% of the student population from low-income families) and to schools or programs that reach underrepresented ethnic minority students.

Additional priority is given to schools or programs that provide academic enrichment and experiential learning in culturally diverse environments, opportunities for apprenticeship and mentoring, and possibilities for leveraging resources and sustaining activities on a long-term basis.

Process

1) Partnership is approved by the school principal or program director

2) We reach out to potential recipients (teachers, counselors, school/parent groups) and determine the best use of funds

3) Potential recipients complete the grant application

4) At the end of the project or academic school year, the school/program provides us with a final report that details how funds were used and how the funding advanced students’ academic knowledge or success
